Quote from a student in Italy

A quote to think about...

"True knowledge comes not from books, even from those sacred, but from experience. The best way to understand reality is through feelings, intuition, not through the intellect. The intellect is limited. I believe that this letter is beautiful."  Tiziano Terzani

a message from a future student at ELSLeaders.com

hello Steve,

i realized that learning things by memory it's not my way, because i'm not machine. Moreover i'd like to be in a group where there is exchange of ideas, a most exciting way; i believe that this quote can describe it.   "True knowledge comes not from books, even from those sacred, but from experience. The best way to understand reality is through feelings, intuition, not through the intellect. The intellect is limited. I believe that this letter is beautiful."  Tiziano Terzani
Now i'm organizing the things to bring, certainly violin, chess and short quote....

           best wishes                   Jacopo

Photo angles that are dramatic can make sailing look FABULOUS and DANGEROUS

The Prada sailing ad has these shots.  These angles show emotion and drama.

Imagine if these can be duplicated or if these angles inspire future videographers and photographers of Will Sutherland's project.

Link to Prada video

Nice low camera angle, shooting up at about 45 degrees
or perhaps 20 degrees.   the camera is about two feet above the water
WOW!  The wind is behind the camera so the the sailboat is stable and not
likely to blow toward the camera's location.

This looks like a low helicopter shot.
The camera is about halfway up the mast,
perhaps 50 feet over the water.
Or there is a tall boat nearby that the
camera person is shooting from.

Drama is added by shooting up.
The camera person might have been
crouching or lying on the deck.
A good shot for Michel to attempt.

This is a headon shot with the boat
coming toward the camera.  Perhaps
a motor boat is running in front of the sailboat
 to get this angle.

==========     Here is a series of horizontal shots taken from a boat that was near the PRADA

OKAY, Prada used a studio...

Posters and Quotes for "The Thought of the Day" (for discussion)

One of the methods used at European Leadership School is the "Thought for the Day."  Here are some posters pulled from three sources that might turn into Thoughts for the Day.  They are collected here to give the students and instructor a quick way to skim through some thoughts...

PROCEDURE:
1.  Find a quote.
2.  Put the quote in own words.
3.  What actions does this quote inspire in you?
4.  Imagine a situation when this quote might be useful to guide our behavior.  Describe the situation to the group.

Later follow-up:
5. At the end of the day, review the Thought for the Day and comment about what you thought recently about the quote.
6. Do you have any new insights?  Perhaps other quotes that are related to the idea?
7. Does any other quote contradict or add value to your quote?
